RHIZE is prototyping systems for an ecosystem of local resilience with people and planet at the center.

Our solutions are rooted in purpose, inspired by place & designed to share.

Our Rhize Program is a nonprofit extension of The Mushroom Farm that provides regenerative-organic food and herbal medicine, living-systems demonstration, inspiration, and grounded education to vulnerable communities in our bioregion.

Goat Profiles

Chicory
Chicory is the low-key queen of the herd. Without horns, she commands respect with benevolence. She is a mild-mannered Nubian and tends to be a bit of a lone ranger when not snuggling with Rou, our beloved guard dog extraordinaire. She currently gives us about a quart of delicious milk a day. She enjoys butt scratches, organic grains, and lazing about in the sunshine. We suspect she is about 5 years old. Does typically live 15-20 years!

Dahlia

Dahlia is a total sweetheart and especially loves being scratched between her horns. She is half Nubian and half Alpine, which shows in her very cute half-floppy ears. She loves eating tulsi flowers and can sometimes be spotted playing with Rou. She was born in the spring of 2020. We plan to find her a suitable stud in the fall of 2021.

Increasing awareness about the extraordinary benefits of healthy soil

As the Kiss the Ground Northern CA Outpost, The Mushroom Farm will be home to an educational immersive art installation. We’ll educate on solutions for our broken agricultural system and climate crisis, reconnecting participants to their relationship with soil.

Every square inch of The Mushroom Farm is Certified Organic, and we will use the energy and water abundance of this land to grow acres of beautiful, healthy food. Our approach combines the wisdom of permaculture, biodynamics, and regenerative agriculture to restore the land while achieving abundance. Of primary importance is regenerating the soil—now recognized as a critical natural climate solution for carbon drawdown.

Kiss the Ground educates millions of people across the globe and provides pathways for everyone to participate in the regenerative movement. They support farmers, cultivate leaders implementing local change, and create media that shifts cultural narratives towards regeneration.
